Reduction of City Fleet Vehicles

To reduce the size of light duty City fleet vehicles in order to effectively manage fleet use and decrease auto congestion and greenhouse gas emitted locally.

An Executive Directive was put into effect March 2008, requiring a 5% reduction in City-owned general purpose vehicles for 2008-2009. Additional fleet management measures include the availability of carsharing services, allowing for cross-departmental use, and the requirement for a City employee justifying take home usage.

Public Outreach and Education: 

The Department of the Environment Clean Air Program developed a clean purchasing guide containing a list of approved clean, light duty passenger vehicles approved for purchase.

The Directive temporarily freezes any budgetary funds going toward non-replacement fleet vehicles.
