Green Cities California Member Benefits

An opportunity to build relationships with your peers and environmental leaders in local government from across California

GCC provides an opportunity to share what you’ve learned, and to learn from your peers. The network offers opportunities to call, email, or meet face-to-face with peers who are experiencing similar opportunities and challenges. It’s an open, honest forum for sharing what works and what doesn’t.

Participate in cutting edge policy workshops twice a year

Members have access to twice yearly workshops that facilitate face-to-face relationship building, professional development, and peer learning.

Participate in workgroup activities and calls

Members identify areas of interest and specific topics that they would like to explore more deeply through participation in ongoing workgroups. While workgroups vary from year-to-year, GCC provides facilitation and coordination so that members have constant access to a timely conversation and topics of relevance.

Partner and collaborate with cities and counties on projects of common interest

Members collaborate, plan joint strategies, brainstorm opportunities, discuss challenges, and share lessons learned. Members have opportunities to partner on multi-city grant projects and other collaborative initiatives that help move our sustainability work forward.

Access to the national sustainability conversation through USDN

Green Cities California is a Partner Network to the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN). USDN is a peer-to-peer network of local government professionals from cities and counties across the U.S. and Canada dedicated to creating a healthier environment, economic prosperity, and increased social equity. Sustainability directors and staff share best practices and accelerate the adoption of good ideas. Partner networks, including Green Cities California, can access USDN.org for grant support, surveys, and technical support. Members also gain access to the Green Cities California group, to store documents, share best practices, and explore collaboration opportunities.

Opportunity to serve in a leadership capacity

Members are eligible to serve on the GCC Steering Committee and contribute to the leadership activities of the network. This opportunity allows members to sharpen their leadership skills, in addition to playing an active role in the growth of a vibrant state-wide sustainability network.
